Lake District
Lake District is the largest National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site in England. I was inspired by its magnificent mountain lakes, so I wanted to bring this spectacular landscape using detailed brush strokes and bright colours. The reflection of the mountains in the water was my main emphasis. I have used my signature style of bright colours and rich brushstrokes. I fell in love with this beautiful view, and all I could think about was how peaceful it must be here. Painting cliffs and mountains is one of my obsessions recently; combining them with the beauty of the lake brought a different kind of meaning to me. I was thinking about an old Zen saying about seeing the moon's reflection in a pond. If the surface of the pond is agitated and full of ripples, the moon's reflection won't look anything like the moon. That agitation, those ripples, are your constant thoughts and feelings, which disturb your ability to perceive the truth. While mountains and cliffs represent stability and silence (they don't have any natural predators), the lakes carry with them the transition of life and resurrection. Taking into consideration its reflecting power, it symbolizes a mirror for self-contemplation as well as a chance for revelation. This painting is about the reflection of your thoughts, it is about finding happiness and peace within yourself. It is about finding who you are in the serenity of your mind.
