I spent a day painting in San Francisco and was about to go home to Davis. As I stepped out of the deli where I bought a sandwich, I came upon this scene that grabbed me. The mood, the life, the night in the city, the people passing by. I did a quick study on a 8 by 10 to get the big shapes, the basic color scheme and took some reference photos for the details. I painted the final piece, 24 x 36 in the studio.
