The Society
"Society is like a house made of glass in which we are imprisoned. The illusion lies in the fact that we do not see its boundaries unless we try to pass through them. Moreover we use the society to create the image we have for ourselves. Thus, from this point of view, society acts also as a mirror in which we try to find our identity. Another interesting notion is that mostly people tend to neglect or are not aware of the power that the society which we are contained in has upon us, and how it shapes our lives as individuals. But despite its power to ‘shape’ or ‘regulate’ us and our action, we must not forget that we, also, have the power to change it, because we are the ones who are creating it, to begin with"
This artwork is a painting with acrylic on a glass surface, and tends to depict the characteristics of a society or a community and how it affects the people that constitute it. The part which aims to represent the society is left unpainted, in order to show the invisibility of its borders.
