That lucky old sun
That lucky old sun is a piece of Bob Dylan. Perfect for this portrait.
A gentleman who, after having spent his whole life working, now tired, turning to God, asks to be able to wander and roll in the sky. Just like that lucky old sun, who "has nothing else to do".
It all started with a picture taken by me. The subject is a gentleman, Guido (he was 97 at the time).
The shot was made for fun, while I was trying out the new smartphone.
The intention was to capture someone special.
Almost by chance I managed to capture a very significant moment, a strong image. I knew immediately that I would have made a portrait of it.
I started this work at the beginning of July 2019 but, due to work commitments, I interrupted it at the end of that month, and then resumed it in mid-January 2020. It ended a couple of weeks later, just in time to present it at an exhibition in Montesilvano, to which he was also present.
It is one of my paintings to which I am most attached, both for the emotions that I felt in drawing it, and in seeing it exposed near Guido, and for what I managed to convey to those who observed it.
And if there are these elements, regardless of personal prizes, I can say that I have already won.
For you, who are now "rolling" in the sky, just like the sun!
