Gentle Africa

Two elephants and a zebra graze near a waterhole as the sun begins to set. Elephants have always inspired me. I have always been in awe by the sheer size of them, the variety of textures- from the deep wrinkles to the cakes of dried mud- and the majestic way they move. Elephants are fierce and protective, but, unprovoked, there is a gentleness about them that is really intriguing. Trying to capture African animals in pencil has left me in awe of God's creativity and sense of humor!
