Above and Beyond
Sitting on top of the Saddlehorn at Colorado National Monument watching the moon rise on an early fall evening is one for the memory books! From our campsite my husband and I scrambled up and I sketched while he photographed. We made this hike three nights and the last was with the full moon coming over the top of Grand Mesa. The long sun rays created deep, rich color and strong shadows which I captured in black and white in my sketches. I love the challenge of working out the patterns and colors on canvas in my studio when I returned home. The red rock formations and high desert light are fascinating and provided me with so much great material to work into paintings!
