Desert Rise

Sourced from a few plein air paintings that I have done through the years of Baja. I am in love with the sunrises moonset that happens in Baja. I wanted to capture that magic and give the feeling as if you could just walk right into the painting and hear the "clap of one hand". With this painting, I wanted the viewer to see beyond the paint strokes and color on the canvas to receive that magically ethereal feeling of the desert. I wanted to capture the rise of the morning and the spirit of an old friend who loved Baja and taught me about the desert here. I hope that not only the spirit of the desert rises in this painting but also the spirit of my friend, Richard.
