Sica Hollow Stream
I did this painting very thickly- mostly with a palette knife- on 8x10 gessoed panel. It depicts a stream at Sica Hollow State Park in South Dakota. It is a lovely and somewhat mysterious place-considered haunted by Native Americans and by early settlers. When I visited there it had abundant wildflowers blooming-especially Dame's Rocket. I like the way the logs floating in the stream drew ones eye to the sunlit meadow beyond.
