Lit by a late day sun, these beautiful iris blooms in my patio took on a new meaning for me, an epiphany. I slightly enhanced the light on their petals in my pastel, while dialing down the surrounding shadows. The resulting painting perfectly expresses to me the gasp I took when I first saw them.
